STANFORD, Calif. — Paula Martín Sampedro was named ACC Golfer of the Year while Anne Walker earned ACC Coach of the Year honors, part of the annual ACC women’s golf postseason awards announced on Friday.
It’s the first time in Stanford’s brief stint in the ACC that they’ve earned an “of the Year” award from the conference. Martín Sampedro was previously named Pac-12 Golfer of the Year as a freshman in 2024, becoming Stanford’s second two-time conference golfer of the year recipient (Rose Zhang in 2022 and 2023). She is also the third individual Stanford student-athlete to win both a conference player of the year award in the Pac-12 and ACC, joining Torri Huske (women’s swimming) and Jack Ryan (men’s diving).
A junior from Spain, Martín Sampedro has been on a tear this season, with a scoring average of 69.57 across 21 rounds, the second-lowest single-season scoring average in program history. She has two individual wins, including the 2026 ACC Championship, and has shot in the 60s 12 times. She has finished in the top five in six consecutive tournaments, with her worst finish of the year a 13th-place finish at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup.
Walker was named a conference Coach of the Year for the fifth time in her illustrious career. Stanford is in the midst of another incredible season as the top-ranked team in the country under Walker’s watch. Heading into the NCAA Regionals, Stanford is 86-3 against the field this year, the only team in the country with fewer than 10 head-to-head losses. The Cardinal has already won six stroke play tournaments this season, including the program's first ACC Championship.
Stanford’s entire starting lineup earned All-ACC honors, the only team in the conference with more than two All-ACC selections. It also marks the second season in a row this group of five (Martín Sampedro, Megha Ganne, Meja Örtengren, Andrea Revuelta, Kelly Xu) were named All-ACC. For Ganne, it’s her fourth all-conference award, the third for Martín Sampedro and Xu, and the second for Örtengren and Revuelta.
The 2026 NCAA Stanford Regional begins on Monday, May 11, with the Cardinal teeing off at 8 a.m.
