NEW ORLEANS — Alyssa Jones was tabbed the West Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year, as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its annual regional awards on Thursday afternoon.
Each of the nine regions honored both genders’ top track athletes and field athletes, as well as the top men’s and women’s head coaches and assistant coaches.
Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches following the conclusion of the 2026 NCAA DI Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Jones won her first NCAA individual title in the long jump last weekend, setting a meet record 7.06m (23-2) at the NCAA Outdoor Championshhips last weekend. The Homestead, Fla., native also earned First-Team All-America honors in the high jump in Eugene, Oregon, placing eighth.
Two weeks prior, Jones posted a 2026 world-leading mark of 7.09m (23-3¼) at the NCAA DI West First Round, good for No. 2 in collegiate history. She also collected both the long jump and high jump ACC titles, earning the Most Valuable Performer Award at the ACC Championships.
Jones will look to add to her list of accolades following a standout senior campaign, as she was named to the final regular season watch list for the Bowerman Award. Semifinalists for the Bowerman Award will be announced on June 25.
