Kennedy Named ACC Women's Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year

NCAA champion 2V8 coxswain Carolyn Kennedy earns Women's Rowing's sixth consecutive conference scholar-athlete of the year award

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford was once again well represented among the All-ACC Academic Rowing Team, highlighted by senior coxswain Carolyn Kennedy being named the ACC Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Kennedy continues the Cardinal's legacy of success on and off the water as the team's sixth consecutive conference scholar-athlete of the year (2021, Grace McGinley (Pac-12); 2022, Nicole Pofcher (Pac-12);  2023, Annabelle Bachmann (Pac-12); 2024, Belle Battiston (Pac-12); 2025, Julietta Camahort (ACC)).

The Cardinal produced 24 recipients during its second season in the ACC.

Kennedy earned a 3.952 GPA while majoring in International Relations. Kennedy becomes Stanford’s 11th ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year overall, joining Benny Gealer (Men's Basketball), Arianna Cao (Fencing), Paula Martín Sampedro (Women's Golf), Aliya Polisky, (Lacrosse), Jasmine Aikey (Women's Soccer), Henry McFadden (Men's Swimming),  Torri Huske (Women's Swimming & Diving),  Juliette Whittaker (Women's Indoor Track & Field),  Elia Rubin (Women's Volleyball) and Nico Provo (Wrestling).

Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous quarter and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.

Stanford posted its sixth consecutive top-two finish at the 2026 NCAA Championship regatta, highlighted by its fourth straight national title in the Second Varsity Eight boat class, coxswained by Kennedy. The Cardinal also won its fifth consecutive conference title and second straight Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) team crown in sweeping style, becoming the first ACC team since Virginia (2015–16) to sweep all championship regatta races in back-to-back seasons. The Cardinal dominated the ACC end-of-year awards as the varsity eight won its second consecutive Crew of the Year honor and Farwell Family Director of Women’s Rowing Derek Byrnes was named conference coach of the year for the fifth consecutive season.
