Men's Track & Field: 2025-26 Year in Review

Five NCAA West Prelim qualifiers and six All-ACC honorees highlighted the 2025-26 season for the Cardinal men

STANFORD, Calif. — Five NCAA West Preliminary qualifiers, six All-ACC honorees, and several additions to the Stanford all-time performance lists highlighted the 2025-26 campaign for the Cardinal men.

Stanford’s distance group once again served as the foundation for the program, with Zane Bergen and Leo Young leading the way for the Cardinal this season.

Bergen was the lone Cardinal to earn All-ACC recognition during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, qualifying for the NCAA West Prelims in the 1,500 meters while climbing to No. 8 in Stanford history in the event. Bergen also became the latest Stanford record holder on the men’s side, setting a new program mark in the indoor 1,000 meters.

Young added another impressive campaign to his collegiate career by qualifying to the NCAA West Prelims in both the 1,500 and 5,000 meters. Young became Stanford’s No. 3 all-time performer in the indoor mile after a third-place effort at the ACC Championships, while also moving into the Cardinal ranks in the indoor 800 meters and outdoor 5,000 meters.

Bergen and Young also joined Zachary Ryan and Toby Chippendale to place third in the distance medley relay at the ACC Indoor Championships. The quartet combined to run the fifth-fastest performance in program history, earning all-conference honors.

Evan Noonan provided added depth to the distance corps with a breakout freshman campaign, setting new Stanford freshman records in both the mile and 1,500 meters. Noonan became just the second freshman in program history to break the four-minute barrier in the mile, and his best performance in the 1,500 meters ranks No. 10 overall in program history.

Joshua Bell also qualified for his first NCAA postseason competition in the 10,000 meters, while James Dargan climbed to No. 6 in Stanford history in the indoor 3,000 meters.

Ryan and Ryce Reynolds headlined Stanford's sprint group, with both climbing the Cardinal all-time lists in the indoor 200 and 400 meters. Ryan moved to No. 3 in school history in the 200 meters and No. 5 in the 400 meters, while Reynolds ranked No. 6 in the 200 meters and No. 4 in the 400 meters. Gabriel Ajaegbu also joined Stanford Top 10 in the indoor 200 meters, while the quartet of Ryan, Reynolds, Joseph Bailey, and Ajaegbu combined to move the Cardinal's indoor 4x400-meter relay into the program's all-time Top 10.

During the outdoor season, Reynolds emerged as one of the ACC's top 400-meter hurdlers, placing third at the conference championships in 50.75, the fourth-fastest performance in Stanford history.

Xavier Drumgoole led the Cardinal in the field events as an All-ACC performer in the indoor triple jump, where he ranked No. 2 in program history. He also entered the Stanford Indoor Top 10 in both the 60 meters and long jump, ranking seventh and ninth, respectively. Jack D'Amico showed flashes during his freshman campaign, moving to No. 3 on Stanford's freshman list in the 35-pound weight throw.

Academically, Stanford placed eight student-athletes on the ACC Indoor All-Academic Team, with Bailey, Dargan, Drumgoole, Reynolds, Ryan, Young, Mason McKhann and Callum Sherry earning recognition. McKhann, Reynolds, Ryan, Sherry, and Young were also named CSC Academic All-District selections, joining cross country’s Byron Grevious.
