STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford men's, women's and beach volleyball teams were recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), today, as recipients of the AVCA Team Academic Award.
Stanford is one of three Division I institutions to have each of its programs (men's, women's and beach) earn the prestigious academic honor. The women’s indoor team also earned the distinction of AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, representing the top 20 percent of GPAs nationally in its division.
The women’s indoor team boasted a 3.734 team GPA for the 2025-26 academic year with 14 of 16 student-athletes recording a 3.50-or-better. The beach team turned in a 3.705 GPA with 15 of its 21 student-athletes notching a 3.50-or-better, while the men's team registered a 3.458 GPA with 11 of 19 student-athletes earning a 3.50-or-better.
The beach and women's teams are receiving the honor for the 12th straight season. The women's team, which has collected the honor for the 20th time overall, is one of 13 ACC schools being recognized. The beach squad is one of seven MPSF schools to earn the award.
The men's team has now earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for a seventh consecutive season, marking the 15th time in program history. The Cardinal is one of two MPSF squads to earn the award, and one of just 13 Division I teams being recognized.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
