STANFORD, Calif. – Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew and setter Logan Parks have been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Watch List for its 2026 Division I Player of the Year Award, presented by Nike Volleyball.
The players on the preseason list are being revealed July 29-31 in three groups of 10. There is no order to which list the players are on, except that all a school’s candidates will appear the same day.
Andrew was an AVCA Second Team All-American and All-ACC First Team performer in 2025. The Ridgefield, Washington, native, ranked second in the ACC with a .447 attack percentage – good for fifth nationally. She was second on the team with 298 kills and 141 total blocks. Andrew registered double-digit kills in 13 matches and hit .400 or better 22 times in 2025.
Parks was the AVCA Pacific Region Freshman of the Year in 2025, collecting AVCA All-America honorable mention honors and an All-ACC Second Team nod. Last season, she set the Cardinal to a .299 team hitting percentage – good for third in the ACC and seventh nationally. The Overland Park, Kansas, native was third in the ACC with 10.11 assists per set, helping Stanford pace the conference in kills per set (14.13) and assists per set (13.39). Parks turned in a career-high 64 assists in a five-set win at No. 7 Louisville (Nov. 29, 2025), marking the most assists in a match by a Stanford player since 2017.
The Preseason Watch List was compiled by the AVCA Division I Women’s Volleyball Awards Committee. They will also be the group working on the additional phases of the Player of the Year process, which include:
- Midseason additions to the list (October)
- Naming the semifinalists (November)
- Revealing the finalists (likely Dec. 14)
- The announcement of the Player of the at the AVCA Awards Banquet in San Antonio on Friday Dec. 18
NOTE: Players who aren’t on the preseason Watch List can still be added as the season progresses.
Stanford opens the 2026 season at the Opening Spike Classic in Pittsburgh. The Cardinal will face Wisconsin on Friday, Aug. 28 and Kansas on Sunday, Aug. 30 at the Petersen Events Center.
