STANFORD, Calif. — Continuing the standard of excellence on The Farm, the Paul A. Violich Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach Danielle Spencer announced on August 21 that Colin Doyle has been named as the Stanford women’s lacrosse program’s new assistant coach for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
“Colin’s decorated playing career and extensive leadership experience make him a phenomenal coach,” said Spencer. “I cannot wait for our players to start learning from him and we are thrilled to welcome Colin and his family to The Farm.”
Doyle comes to The Farm following a multi-year stint with the Toronto Rock organization in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) where he served as an associate coach for six years, aiding in the behind-the-scenes development of players while helping lend experience to head coach Matt Sawyer and his staff. During his tenure, Toronto reached the playoffs in three of a possible four seasons including two conference final appearances. Doyle aided the Rock to three-straight 13+ win seasons including a 15-win season in 2024 which was the most in a season in the club’s history.
“I am beyond thrilled,” said Doyle. “I am thankful for Danielle and her staff for offering me the opportunity to coach this great game in such an amazing place. I am looking forward to being a part of something special on The Farm and I hope to help lead this program to great things and leave a positive impression on all of our athletes.”
Within the Rock organization, Doyle also served as the Director of Lacrosse Operations and was the Head Lacrosse Coach for the Toronto Rockstars Lacrosse Club from 2017-2026. Overseeing all aspects of coaching, training, and development for nearly 600 athletes, Doyle guided the Rockstars to numerous championships in both the boy’s and girl’s divisions while developing over 70 athletes who had or have achieved secondary lacrosse experience in both Canada and the United States.
Elsewhere in the community, Doyle served as a volunteer coach in Owen Sound with the Northstars Minor Lacrosse Association where he helped develop the club into one of the best in the province across all ages. During his seven years with the program, Owen Sound grew from three teams to 12 that all competed provincially, culminating in Doyle’s honor as the Owen Sound Volunteer of the Year in 2019.
As a player, Doyle boasts one of the best resumes in both box and field lacrosse following a career that spanned nearly 20 years. Doyle played 15 seasons with Toronto (1999-2006, 2010-2016), captaining the Rock for 10 years and winning six of the club’s seven championship titles, claiming Playoff Most Valuable Player honors three times (2000, 2003, 2005). Voted the NLL’s MVP in 2005, Doyle was inducted into the NLL Hall of Fame in 2021 while his No. 7 jersey was retired by Toronto in 2017 - becoming the second player in the club’s history to earn the honor. He is also often considered the “G.R.O.A.T (Greatest Rock of All Time)” as he still stands at or near the top in every offensive category in the Rock organization.
Doyle also made appearances with the San Jose Lacrosse Team in the NLL from 2007-2009 while also doubling in field lacrosse with Major League Lacrosse’s (MLL) Rochester Rattlers for three seasons (2007-2011), winning the club’s only championship in 2008. Doyle is a five-time Canadian Champion, and four-time World Championship gold medal winner in box and field lacrosse.
A native of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, Doyle holds a bachelor's degree from Wilfrid Laurier University (2000), while he also holds a masters of science in education degree from D’Youville University in 2006. Stanford is completing the necessary arrangements for Doyle to join The Farm and looks forward to welcoming him onboard.
