The Farm Report: August 24

Hosting a pair of matches to open up the athletic season on The Farm, top-ranked Stanford women’s soccer shut out No. 14 Georgetown by a score of 2-0, on Thursday, before coasting to a 6-0 win over UC Irvine, on Sunday.

Against Georgetown, scored twice in the first 10 minutes of play, with Freshman Ella Kral tallying her first career goal in the sixth minute, and Charlotte Kohler quickly added to Stanford’s lead in the 10th minute, cutting into the box before unleashing a right-footed attempt from a difficult angle and pinning her shot inside the near post.

On Sunday, Stanford scored four times in the first half, and added two more goals in the second half, en route to earning a 6-0 victory over the visiting Anteaters. Junior Bella Winn notched her first Stanford goal in the eighth minute, and in the second half, Charlotte Kohler stretched her goal streak to three straight contests to start the season, one-timing her shot to the far post for the goal.

Opening up their season on home soil, No. 9 Stanford men’s soccer mirrored the women’s team, winning a ranked game over No. 21 Grand Canyon 2-1, on Thursday, before beating Denver 3-1 on Sunday.

Eric Frintu opened the scoring in the second half with his first career goal, leaping up  and finishing with a bicycle kick inside the right post finishing off a cross from TJ Kahoalli. Alex Chow added the second in the 71st minute, dribbling to his left and fighting through a Grand Canyon defender before firing a strike from outside the box that bent into the top-right corner to put Stanford up for good.

It was a more dominant match for the Card on Sunday on its way to a 3-1 victory, over Denver. A suffocating offensive performance was highlighted by a brace from Logan Tsopanoglou while Stanford outshot Denver 32-4 with 13 attacks on frame to the Pioneers' three. Stanford also held a 3-2 advantage on corner kicks.

Preparation for the 2026 Stanford football season is over. The Cardinal finished its training camp on Saturday, with the final of 20 training camp practices wrapping up inside Stanford Stadium.

“Finish” was the theme all week from Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football Tavita Pritchard. That was on display all week, including the last camp practice. Both sides of the ball brought that finish to the final practice. The offense found multiple ways to move the football. The defense created a big turnover and made stops. Special teams looked sharp.

One thing has been abundantly clear when listening to Coach Pritchard speak to the media and to the team: he knows this team is better than it was when camp started.

“We’re back in windshield mode,” he explained following Saturday’s last practice of training camp. “I promise you the teams that will have the best seasons are the ones that will develop consistently over the course of the year and keep getting better. We are going to be one of those teams.”

One of the first things fans will notice when entering Stanford Stadium in 2026 is new stadium lights. These state-of-the-art LED lights can be programmed to display different patterns and will be activated during big moments on game day.

Additonally, larger ribbon boards have been installed around the facade of the second deck, aimed at creating a better display for the in-game scoreboard, game stats, and other content. The boards can be synchronized with the new stadium lighting to establish fresh activations for the biggest moments of game day. As well as, cellular networks inside the stadium have been improved, with the addition of Verizon’s new C-Band Network, allowing fans to capture and share game day moments with ease.

At concessions, Cash App is now accepted throughout the stadium, with all concession locations remaining cashless to keep lines moving and get fans back to the action faster.

Finally, the Archway is the destination for fans to eat, drink, and socialize as they take in the game from a scenic vantage point. Fans now have the opportunity to enjoy their own semi-private space within The Archway by reserving one of the Archway Cabanas.
