Season Begins in Frisco

Title defense officially begins at Jackson T. Stephens Cup

  • The defending national champions, Stanford women’s golf, begins its season at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup on Sept. 14-16. This year’s event takes place at PGA Frisco in Fields Ranch East, playing as a par 72.
  • The first two rounds of stroke play take place on Sept. 14, with the third round on Sept. 15. The field will then be seeded for match play, with the top two seeds playing in the championship on Sept. 16.
  • Stanford will compete against five of the best teams in the country at this year’s Jackson T. Stephens Cup: No. 3 Texas, No. 7 Wake Forest, No. 8 Florida State, No. 10 South Carolina, and No. 11 Oregon. All rankings are based on Golf Channel’s preseason rankings.
  • The only tournament Stanford did not win during the 2025-26 season was the Jackson T. Stephens Cup. The Cardinal finished second in stroke play and lost to Wake Forest in match play.
  • Stanford last won the Jackson T. Stephens Cup in 2022. Stanford has never had an individual medalist since the event began in 2021.
  • After dropping a match play event to San Jose State on March 2, Stanford did not suffer a loss the rest of the season. Stanford won the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate, ACC Championship, NCAA Stanford Regional, and both the stroke play and match play portions of the NCAA Championship.
  • Stanford’s NCAA Championship was the program’s third in five years and its fourth overall. The Cardinal trails only Arizona State (8) and Duke (7) for the most in NCAA history.
  • During Stanford’s championship run, the Cardinal did not lose a point in match play, sweeping through Pepperdine, Eastern Michigan, and USC. The Cardinal was only trailing in one individual match that did not finish, meaning if all matches were played through, Stanford was projected to go 14-1.
  • Over the summer, both Paula Martín Sampedro and Andrea Revuelta moved into the top spot of the World Amateur Golf Rankings. Martín Sampedro took over first in the rankings on Aug. 26 before Revuelta overtook her on Sept. 2. Both Spaniards occupy the top two spots in the rankings, marking the second time in WAGR history that one school has held the top two spots.
  • Heading into the season, three Cardinal were named Preseason All-Americans: Paula Martín Sampedro, Meja Örtengren, and Andrea Revuelta. All three are also on the ANNIKA Award Preseason Watchlist.
  • The 2026-27 schedule is similar to Stanford’s from one season ago, with a notable addition: the 2027 Nanea Cup, played at Nanea Golf Club in Kailua-Kona, Hawai’i. It is a tournament in conjunction with the LPGA featuring five of the best collegiate teams in the country and current stars on the LPGA Tour.
  • Stanford’s lineup for the Jackson T. Stephens Cup is as follows: Paula Martín Sampedro, Andrea Revuelta, Meja Örtengren, Anna Song, and Jude Lee.
