DURHAM, N.C. – Still without six players due to the U-20 World Cup in Poland, No. 1 Stanford was upended 5-0 on the road at No. 3 Duke Sunday in a matchup of two of the top teams in the nation.
The setback dropped the Cardinal to 6-1-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the ACC, while Duke improved to 6-0-1 and 1-0-0 in the conference.
Avery Oder managed a brace, while Mia Minestrella, Katie Shea Collins and Yuna Marui each added a goal, as the Blue Devils earned the shutout.
Duke goalkeeper Molly Vapensky was stellar in net, recording five saves to secure the clean sheet. The sophomore goalkeeper made a handful of quality stops in the second half, totaling four saves, including one in the 47th minute and two more on back-to-back chances from the Cardinal in the 78th minute.
Shea Collins was credited with the game-winner when she scored in the 15th minute, beating Stanford goalkeeper Rhiannon Stewart to the near post after making her run up the left side of the attack.
Oder netted the first of her two goals in the 36th minute before capping the scoring by converting a penalty kick in the 79th.
Stanford will look to get back on track on Thursday when it returns to The Farm to host Louisville at 7 p.m.

- The 5-0 loss tied the largest margin of defeat for the Cardinal in program history and marked just the ninth time in history that Stanford has lost by five goals (last: 5-0 at BYU on November 11, 2000)
