STANFORD, Calif. — One week after her teammate became the top-ranked amateur in the world, Andrea Revuelta has moved into the top spot in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. She becomes the 25th female ranked No. 1 in the history of the rankings.
2026 has been a spectacular year for Revuelta. She became an NCAA Champion in May when the Cardinal defeated USC for the national championship. Revuelta won a pair of tournaments, including the NCAA Stanford Regional, her second regional win in as many seasons.Â
Her performances in amateur competitions really stand out, though. Revuelta finished second in the 2026 Augusta National Women's Amateur, her second top-five finish in the event. She then went on to finish as the runner-up at the 123rd Women's Amateur Championship, falling in the match play finals. She was the second Cardinal in as many seasons to reach the final of The Women's Amateur.
Revuelta becomes the fourth Cardinal to reach the top spot of the women’s World Amateur Golf Rankings, joining Paula MartÃn Sampedro, Rose Zhang, and Andrea Lee.Â
The most recent Cardinal ranked No. 1 in the world for consecutive weeks was Zhang, who holds the record for the longest reign atop the amateur rankings, spending 142 consecutive weeks ranked No. 1. Lee reached the top spot on four occasions, holding it for a total of 17 weeks beginning in 2015 and ending in 2019.
Stanford is the only women’s golf program in the country to have four golfers reach No. 1 in the women’s World Amateur Golf Rankings.
All of this movement comes after Kiara Romero of Oregon vacated the top spot. Romero spent over one year as the top-ranked amateur but recently announced her decision to turn pro, forgoing her final year of college eligibility at Oregon.
With Revuelta moving into the top spot, MartÃn Sampedro moves into the No. 2 position in the rankings, keeping Stanford atop the rankings. Meja Örtengren moves up one spot to get back into fifth.
