SEATTLE – The Cardinal took home a pair of PCCSC titles this weekend, kicking off the 2026-27 campaign with a singlehanded sweep. Thomas Sitzmann took the Open Singlehanded crown, while Avery Baldwin took the Women's top mark.
“It is really fun for us to start traveling," said head coach Chris Klevan. "After a hard preseason, it seems that those who have already hit the road have an appreciation for what makes us who we are and the community that comes from the distance we cover together.”
Baldwin was perfect in the seven-race competition, finishing first all seven times. The sophomore's seven points were well clear of second place, California's 22.
On the open side, Sitzmann was not far from perfect. The senior took first in six of seven races, finishing second in the one exception. His eight points topped the 15 points in second place.
The Cardinal is on the road again next weekend, heading to Navy for open and women's scrimmages, while a delegation heads to Louisiana for Tulane's Women's Sugar Bowl. All three competitions run Saturday through Sunday.
