PITTSBURGH – Closing out an eight-match road trip, No. 12 Stanford fell at No. 2 Pittsburgh, 25-21, 25-23, 25-21, Sunday night at Victory Heights Arena.
Stanford (7-5, 0-2 ACC) hit .228 as a team and out dug the Panthers 54 to 45. Pittsburgh (12-0, 2-0 ACC), which remains undefeated, turned in a .325 attack percentage and held a 11.5 to 6.0 advantage in blocks.
Opposite Jordyn Harvey led Stanford with 15 kills and three digs, while middle blocker Lizzy Andrew added 10 kills on .455 hitting and four blocks.
Setter Logan Parks dished out 34 assists to go with eight digs, four blocks, three kills and an ace. Libero Spencer Etzler registered a season-high 21 digs, four assists and a pair of aces.
Outside hitter Julia Blyashov posted 13 kills, six digs, two blocks and three assists. Defensive specialist Malyssa Cawa collected 10 digs and three assists.
Two-time AVCA Player of the Year Olivia Babcock led Pitt with 20 kills, nine digs and four blocks. The Cardinal is now 5-2 all-time against the Panthers.
Stanford returns to The Farm next week, hosting Virginia Tech on Friday and Virginia on Saturday. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m. on ACCNX.
