STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 3-ranked Cardinal is back in the pool for another two road games this weekend, heading south for a pair of ranked bouts. Stanford will take on No. 9 Pepperdine on Saturday before playing No. 13 UCSB on Sunday.
Stanford is coming off a pair of dominant wins last weekend, opening the season 2-0. Both games this weekend will be live streamed on ESPN+.
NON-CON HOT STREAK » The Cardinal has been on a roll against opponents outside of the MPSF West, winning each of the last 44 games against teams other than UCLA, USC and California.
SOLID DEBUTS » The Card's two transfers showed out in their debuts, with Bernardo Herzer making nine saves against No. 13 UC Irvine. In two games on Saturday, James Rozolis-Hill combined for six goals.
DYNAMIC DUO » The returning duo of Balogh and Forer was one of the best goal-producing pair in the MPSF last season – joining to post 230 points (136 goals, 94 assists). Forer's 48 assists were the second-most in the MPSF West. This year, the pair has combined for seven goals and four assists in two games.
FRESHMEN ORIENTATION » Kai Kaneko, Dimitris Chatzis, Nic Austen, Evan Wu and Connor Ohl all made impacts in their freshmen debuts last weekend. The class combined for 19 points (10 goals, nine assists) in two games.
Kaneko's seven points and five assists are both tied for the team lead.
