STANFORD, Calif. – A career night by Lizzy Andrew led No. 4 Stanford in a 25-17, 25-18, 30-32, 25-15 win over South Florida, Thursday, it its home opener at Maples Pavilion.
Andrew, a junior middle blocker from Ridgefield, Washington, hit a season-high .500 with a career-best 17 kills and a career-high 12 blocks for her first collegiate double-double.
Stanford (3-0) hit .220 as a team, while holding South Forida (1-3) to a .060 clip. The Cardinal posted a season-best 18.0 blocks to go with 51 digs and three aces.
Stanford improves to 116-14 at Maples Pavilion under Kevin Hambly, The Montag Family Director of Women’s Volleyball, who is in his 10th season at the helm of the program.
Setter Logan Parks controlled the offense with a season-high 44 assists to go with 10 digs, two kills, two blocks and an ace. The sophomore has registered a double-double in each of Stanford’s first three matches.
Sophomore outside hitter Kaci Demaria, who redshirted her first season on The Farm, made her collegiate debut with 13 kills, seven blocks and two digs. Freshman middle blocker Ella Andrews also made her collegiate debut, finishing with nine kills on .316 hitting and six blocks.
Opposite Jordyn Harvey posted eight kills, nine digs, four blocks and an ace. Outside hitter Julia Blyashov added six kills, 10 digs, three blocks and three assists. Libero Spencer Etzler collected 10 digs, two assists and an ace.
Thursday marked the first meeting between Stanford and South Florida.
Stanford closes out its homestand on Sunday, hosting Marquette at 1 p.m. in Maples Pavilion.
