ORLANDO, Fla. – In the Shriners Children’s ACC/SEC Challenge, No. 4 Stanford fell to No. 19 Texas A&M, 23-25, 13-25, 25-21, 19-25, Wednesday, at State Farm Arena at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
The Cardinal (4-1) hit .260 as a team but was overpowered by an Aggie offense which hit .344. Stanford drops to 5-2 all-time against Texas A&M.
Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew led the Cardinal, hitting a season-high .545 with 13 kills, four digs and four blocks. The junior went on a scoring run at the service line in the third set, sparking Stanford’s come-from-behind win.
Outside hitter Julia Blyashov registered her third double-double of the season with a team-best 14 kills on .364 hitting and 10 digs. Opposite Jordyn Harvey added nine kills, three blocks and an ace, while Ipar Kurt finished with nine kills and two blocks.
Setter Logan Parks tallied 41 assists, nine digs, two blocks and a team-high three aces. Libero Spencer Etzler collected nine digs and three assists.
Freshman middle blocker Ella Andrews turned in four blocks and a kill, while freshman Simone Roslon matched her career-high with seven digs.
The defending national champion was led by outside hitter Kyndal Stowers who had a match-high 15 kills and 11 digs.
