ABOUT STANFORD STADIUM

Stanford Stadium is a versatile venue that has hosted a wide array of events. With a seating capacity of 50,424, it is home to the Stanford Cardinal football program and a variety of campus events including the site of the university’s annual spring commencement ceremony in June. Its rich history includes the 1928 moment when Herbert Hoover, a former Stanford football student manager, delivered his acceptance speech as the Republican presidential candidate. In 1962, amidst the Cold War tensions, track coach Payton Jordan brought the USA-USSR dual meet to the stadium. The stadium also witnessed the 1985 Super Bowl clash between the San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins, hosted six soccer matches during the 1994 World Cup, and in 2017, the Stanford Concert Network presented a performance by music producer and DJ Zedd.
