STANFORD, Calif. — After a record-setting performance on Saturday night against Elon, junior running back Micah Ford was named ACC Running Back of the Week in Week 7, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Ford was one of the highlights of Reunion Homecoming weekend, rushing for 179 and adding 52 receiving yards. His 231 scrimmage yards are the most by a Stanford running back since 2017, but that was the tip of the iceberg. Ford ran for four rushing touchdowns, including an 81-yard house call on his first touch of the fourth quarter. He tied a Stanford single-game record for rushing touchdowns, most recently set by Christian McCaffrey in 2015. It is now the tenth game in program history with four rushing touchdowns. It’s also the second time this season Ford has run for at least three touchdowns in a game, the first Cardinal to do so twice in a season since 2017.
Ford now has eight rushing touchdowns this year, tied with Duke’s Nate Sheppard for the most in the ACC. He is also tied for second in the league in rushing attempts and sixth in rushing yards.
By landing the award from the conference, he is the second two-time winner of the week this year, with Sheppard winning the award in Weeks 1 and 2.
Ford and the Cardinal will look to improve to .500 with a win over NC State on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. inside Stanford Stadium.
