STANFORD, Calif. – Middle blocker Ella Andrews has been voted the ACC Freshman of the Week, the conference announced today.
Andrews averaged 1.67 kills on .357 hitting, 1.33 blocks and 2.39 points per set as Stanford had a road split at Duke and No. 23 North Carolina. She hit .400 with eight kills and four blocks in the four-set win at Duke and followed up with seven kills on .308 hitting at UNC. She also matched her career-high with eight blocks against the Tar Heels.
It is the first weekly honor for Andrews, and the fifth different Cardinal to be recognized by the ACC this season. Stanford now boasts 199 weekly awards all-time dating back to its time in the Pac-12 Conference, including 32 Offensive, 45 Defensive, 9 Setter and 40 Freshman.
No. 18 Stanford faces rival Cal twice in the Big Spike this week. The Cardinal travels to Berkeley on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before hosting the Golden Bears on Friday at 7 p.m.
