Two Top-Four Finishes

Cardinal takes second at Yale Women’s, fourth at Open ACC Final

The Cardinal finished a pair of regattas in the top four this weekend, taking second at the Yale Women’s and fourth at the Open ACC Final.

“Solid performance by our team at ACCs,” said Malin Burnham Assistant Sailing Coach Augie Dale. “The racing was very tough with few passing lanes but as the weekend went on we made our way to the top of the pack.”

At the Open ACC Final, Reade Decker and Callie Hammond took third in the A boat with 54 points. The B boat featured Freddie Parkin, Estella Morris and Lucas Woodworth, finishing eighth with 80 points.

Meanwhile, Stanford took second at the Yale Women’s regatta. The team tied with first-place Yale with 118 points, taking second on the tiebreaker.

“I’m really proud of how our team worked together this weekend,” said assistant coach Shawn Harvey. “It shows a lot of maturity from our freshmen drivers.”

Annie Sitzmann and Hannah Crompton took first in the A boat, finishing with 38 points. The B boat of Ava McAliley and Alexandra Jones took fourth, finishing with 80 points.

The Cardinal is at home for the first time this season next weekend, hosting the Women’s PCCSC Championships and the Top-9 Invite. The team will also send a delegation to the Nickerson Trophy in Medford, Massachusetts.
