STANFORD, Calif. – Julia Blyashov led No. 13 Stanford in a sweep over Virginia, 25-12, 25-23, 25-13, Saturday, at Maples Pavilion.
Stanford (9-5) hit .382 as a team and moved to 2-2 in ACC play with its second straight sweep. Virginia (5-8) was held to a .167 attack percentage and dropped to 1-3 in conference.
Blyashov hit a career-high .607 with a season-best 18 kills on 28 swings with just one miscue. The senior also tallied six digs, an ace and a block. Middle blocker Lizzy Andrew finished with 10 kills and four blocks.
Setter Logan Parks dished out 44 assists, setting the Cardinal to a .581 clip in the final frame. The sophomore added six digs, three blocks, an ace and a kill. Libero Spencer Etzler collected 14 digs and an ace.
Outside hitter Kaci Demaria hit .500 with eight kills on 14 attempts with just one error, to go with two blocks and two digs. Opposite Jordyn Harvey matched her season-high with 14 digs to go with six kills. Freshman Ella Andrews was 4-0-4 offensively and had a block.
Defensive specialist Malyssa Cawa posted six digs and an ace. Freshman opposite Sarah Hickman subbed in late in the third, registering her first kill in Maples. Junior Sidney Duncan also entered the match in the third, recording a block, while freshman Simone Roslon replaced Blyashov and put down a kill on match point.
Stanford improved to 4-0 all-time against Virginia. The Cavaliers had four players post a team-high six kills,
