The Opening Kickoff
- Stanford football stays on the road this week with a Saturday contest against No. 3 Notre Dame at Notre Dame Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m. PT on NBC and Peacock.Â
- The Cardinal is attempting to snap a 13-game losing streak away from home, the longest such streak in program history and tied for the longest active streak in the country with Ball State. Stanford's last road win came in its first-ever ACC game, at Syracuse on Sept. 20, 2024.
- Quarterback Davis Warren opened the season with 167 consecutive pass attempts without an interception, tying him with Davis Mills in 2020 for the longest such streak to open a season in Stanford history. His streak came to an end against Wake Forest after a pass bounced off a receiver's foot and popped into the air. He had the most pass attempts in FBS without an interception up to that point.
- Despite some offensive struggles against Wake Forest, Stanford has shown the ability to push the ball downfield in the air. The Cardinal has five passing plays of at least 40 yards, and three of at least 50 yards, both ranking in the top half of the ACC.
- Through five games, Stanford has not lost the turnover battle and is +4 in turnover margin. This is the first time since 2019 that Stanford has gone five straight games without losing the turnover battle. The Cardinal is tied for third in the ACC in turnover margin and, with just two turnovers this season, is tied for the fewest in the ACC. Only New Mexico, No. 3 Notre Dame, and No. 7 Indiana have fewer nationally.
- With turnovers forced every game to begin 2026, the Cardinal is one of 20 FBS programs to record a turnover in all its games to begin the season. Stanford and California are the only teams in the ACC with a turnover forced in every game in 2026.
- Stanford has not won a road game against a ranked team since Sept. 11, 2021, at No. 14 USC, a current streak of 10 consecutive losses. Stanford's last nonconference win over a ranked team away from home was the 2016 Rose Bowl Game win over No. 6 Iowa.
- Â Stanford and Notre Dame are playing for The Legends Trophy this weekend. The Cardinal most recently won this coveted trophy in 2022, beating the Fighting Irish 16-14 in South Bend. The rivalry has been split over the last decade-plus, with Stanford winning eight of the last 16 matchups.
