Hoppe Named All-ACC

Sophomore backer named All-ACC Second Team following strong regular season

STANFORD, Calif. — Having had a successful regular season, Stanford field hockey defender Natalie Hoppe has been tabbed to the All-ACC Second Team, the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) announced on Monday. Hoppe becomes the third Cardinal to be named to an All-ACC team and the third-straight backer to be listed among the conference’s best.

A native of Hannover, Germany, Hoppe has enjoyed a career year offensively, vying for second on the team in points with 11 on the campaign. Hoppe has tallied two goals and has posted a career-best seven assists heading into Tuesday’s postseason matchup. Her seven assists is the most by a Cardinal since Funella Scutt grabbed 17 in the 2019 season.

Defensibly, Hoppe has helped spearhead a Cardinal defense that has posted three shutouts while limiting the opposition to one goal or less nine times. Hoppe also boasts two defensive saves this season as a stalwart on the Stanford penalty corner defense that has shown strong this season.

Hoppe and the Cardinal are in action for the ACC Field Hockey Championships on Tuesday, November 3, taking on the No. 1-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels. First strike from UNC’s Karen Shelton Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C. is slated for 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT.
