STANFORD, Calif. – Freshman Slava Shahbazyan has been voted the ACC Wrestler of the Week, the conference announced today.
Shahbazyan went 5-0 in his Stanford debut to win the 184-pound title at the Princeton Open on Sunday. Three of his five wins came by bonus points as he outscored his opponents 65-22. The Los Angeles native knocked off No. 13 Ryan Rogers of Lehigh with a 9-6 decision in the finals.
Shahbazyan’s first career award is the seventh weekly honor all-time for Stanford as a member of the ACC.
Up next, the Cardinal travels to CSU Bakersfield on Nov. 13 before hosting No. 18 Wyoming on Nov. 15 for its home opener at Stanford Softball Stadium.
