HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Four members of the Stanford beach volleyball team accepted invitations to compete in the fourth annual Women's Pairs Championship at the AVCA Beach National Championships, Nov. 6-8, held at the John Hunt Park Sand Volleyball Complex in Huntsville, Ala. The pair of senior Ruby Sorra and junior Avery Jackson enters as the No. 3 seed, while junior Charlotta Bell and senior Brooke Rockwell enter the 64-pair tournament as the No. 5 seed.Â
Schools earned bids through team performance in the 2026 spring season, through top finishes at qualifying events this fall, or as at-large selections. Stanford's coaching staff determined which student-athletes would compete in the pairs championship. Chosen pairs were seeded the week of the championship using current TruVolley rankings.
All four Cardinal make a return appearance at the pairs tournament held on the white sands of Huntsville, Ala. Rockwell makes her fourth showing at the event, bringing a record of three top-five finishes: tied-for-fifth in 2025 with Jackson, third with partner then-sophomore Ruby Sorra in 2024, and second overall as a freshman with partner then-senior Xolani Hodel in 2023. Jackson makes her third straight run at the pairs title after her tied-for-fifth place effort with Rockwell in 2025 and a tied-for-13th place effort at the event in 2024. Bell returns to the event after a tied-for-11th place finish at the 2025 tournament, and Sorra makes her second appearance at the event after her podium finish with Rockwell in 2024.Â
The Cardinal is the only program in the country with both pairs seeded in the top 10.
The national championship competition will consist of three days of 64-pair bracket play. Winning keeps you in the championship bracket, while a loss moves you to a lower bracket to play out to place.Â
