Another Top-Five Win on The Farm

No. 2 Cardinal tops No. 5 Fordham 15-11

STANFORD, Calif. – For the third-straight game, Stanford has taken down a top-five opponent at home. The No. 2 Cardinal topped No. 5 Fordham 15-11 at Avery Aquatic Center to move to 18-2 on the year. The win also extends the program’s winning streak to 54-straight wins against non-MPSF West opponents.

Botond Balogh opened the scoring at the 5:17 mark in the first period, but Fordham was able to quickly answer and tie the game at 1-1. The Rams scored with just 1:51 left in the period to take the lead at 2-1. Balogh answered right back for the Cardinal, converting on a powerplay on the next possession to tie it at 2-2. Then the Stanford offense came alive in the final minute.

Ben Forer scored with 37 seconds left to make it 3-2, and Ryan Ohl redirected a pass in front of the goal as time expired to erase the Rams’ lead and send Stanford into the first break with a two-goal lead.

The two sides traded goals in the second, with Connor Ohl, Guido Leonardi, Christopher Arakelian and Alex Gheorghe all finding the back of the net to make it an 8-5 Stanford lead at halftime.

Less than 30 seconds in the second half, Forer added his second to make it a 9-5 game. Connor Ohl added his second, and Gavin West his first to make it an 11-6 game just three minutes into the third.

Forer scored his third of the day at the 5:12 mark to break the game open at 12-6. Balogh joined him with his third goal in the period as well. In total, the Card scored six times in the third to take a 14-9 lead into the final eight minutes.

Fordham struck for a pair of goals to open the fourth and cut into the lead, making it a 14-11 game with 5:55 left to play. The Cardinal defense held on, with Forer adding his fourth goal of the day with seven seconds left to ice the win at 15-11.

The rivalry bout starts at 6:00 p.m. PT, with a postgame ceremony to honor the Card’s 2026 senior class.
