  • Son of Dean Starkey.
  • Father won the bronze medal at the 1997 World Championships in the pole vault, and had a best of 19-5.
  • He also coached pole vault at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo.
  • Stepmother is the former Jill Wittenwyler, who competed in the 2000 Olympic trials in the pole vault, and had a best of 14-1 1/4.
  • She coached multi-events at South Dakota State.
  • Parents run the Arizona Pole Vault Academy on their Queen Creek property.
  • Has two younger sisters, Taylor and Tyra.
