AT STANFORD: Fifth-year senior will be a major factor in the tight end group...could earn the starting job, depending on the health of Jim Dray...worked his way into the tight end rotation last season after seeing most of his time on special teams in 2005 and '06...also worked at outside linebacker prior to the 2006 season before settling in at tight end...effective blocker and makes plays when called upon...has very good ball-handling skills...strength and quickness make him a factor after the catch...did not participate in spring practice as he was rehabbing a hip injury.
2007 (SENIOR): Played in all 12 games and started the final six games of the season in place of an injured Jim Dray...contributed 10 catches for 86 yards (8.6 ypc) and two touchdowns...first career reception was good for a 27-yard touchdown against San Jose State...also had a one-yard TD reception vs. California...had career-highs of four catches and 37 yards in the win at Arizona.
2006 (JUNIOR): Played in seven games as a reserve tight end and special teams player...was briefly moved to outside linebacker in fall camp but settled in at the tight end slot where he was used in two and three tight end situations...earned his second varsity letter.
2005 (SOPHOMORE): Earned a letter as a back-up tight end and special teams player. 2004 (FRESHMAN): Did not see action.
HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL DATA: One of the top high school prospects in the state of Pennsylvania at both tight end and defensive end...all-Northeast selection by SuperPrep...recorded 65 tackles and five sacks on defense while catching 12 passes for 250 yards in a run-orientated Wing-T offense at Red Lion HS...also kicked PATs and kickoffs...first team all-county and all-district...York County Defensive Player of the Year...had 50 tackles, four sacks, 11 catches and three touchdowns as a senior...three-year letterwinner in basketball...two-time model airplane world champion...won top honors in the Czech Republic in 2000 and Slovakia in 2002...National Honor Society member...earned his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering and is currently working towards his master's in aeronautics and astrophysics.
