Mendoza and Beeson Named Finalists For USA Softball Player Of The Year

Stanford softball had a pair of seniors named to the list of 25 finalists for the inaugural USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award. Cardinal outfielder Jessica Mendoza and first baseman Sarah Beeson are two of 13 Pac-10 athletes on the list.

Mendoza is a three-time All-American as well as three-time All-Pac-10 selection for the Cardinal. Beeson is a two-time All-American and three-time all-conference pick as well.

Twenty-five finalists have been named for the inaugural USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award, as announced Friday by the Amateur Softball Association. Ten finalist will be named May 3, and three finalists will be announced May 31. The winner will be announced June 7 and will be presented the award in November during the ASA National Council Meeting in Reno, Nev.
