Tim Cunningham Earns Pac-10 Pitcher Of The Week Honors

May 13, 2002

Walnut Creek, Calif. - Stanford junior lefthanded pitcher Tim Cunningham (Rocklin, CA/Rocklin HS) has been named the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his career. Cunningham picked up his first victory since April 6 by holding Arizona State scoreless for 7.0 innings and scattering seven hits in a 3-1 Stanford victory in the rubber game of a three-game series on Sunday. Cunningham improved his record to 6-2 this season and lowered his ERA to 3.97. He leads the Cardinal with 15 games started.

The Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week honor was the 59th time a Stanford pitcher has been selected and the first time a Cardinal has won the award since Jeff Bruksch was honored on April 9, 2001. Stanford last won a Pac-10 Player of the Week honor when Jason Cooper won the award earlier this season on April 15, 2002.

No. 7 Stanford (35-14, 11-7 Pac-10) begins a four-game road trip this week with a non-conference game at Nevada on Tuesday, May 14 (2 pm, PDT). The Cardinal also travels to UCLA for a three-game Pac-10 series Friday-Sunday, May 17-19 (6 pm, 1 pm, 1 pm, PDT).
