The 1969 Stanford graduate has led the Cardinal to two NCAA titles (1987, '88) and two other CWS title game appearances (2000, '01), as well as 11 College World Series appearances (1982, '83, '85, '87, '88, '90, '95, '97, '99, 2000, '01), 11 NCAA Regional titles (1982, '83, '85, '87, '88, '90, '95, '97, '99, 2000, '01), 10 Pac-10 or Pac-10 Southern Division regular season titles (1983, '84, '85, '87, '90, '94, '97, '98, '99, 2000) and three NCAA Super Regional championships (1999, 2000, '01). COMMENTS FROM MARK MARQUESS
(on the upcoming UCLA series) "I'm expecting another battle in our series at UCLA. Obviously, we need to do well to stay in the hunt for a Pac-10 title."
(on winning two-of-three games versus Arizona State) "It would have been nice to get a sweep at home but winning two-of-three allowed us to keep pace with first place USC."
(on starting to settle on the lineup) "We're pretty set, but I still have a little bit of flexibility because a lot of different guys play a lot of different positions."
(on Sam Fuld's current streak) "He's improved a lot as a hitter. He can do so many things -- hit with power, hit for average, bunt. He's just a tough out right now."
(on the big crowds at Sunken Diamond) "We've had great crowds and great fan support at Sunken Diamond."
(on the Pac-10 race) "USC is out in front of everybody else but there are still some other teams battling for a championship in the last two weekends. It should be a good race for the title and the next couple of spots in the standings right up until the end of league play."
(on the balance in the Pac-10) "Anybody is capable of beating another Pac-10 team in a series. All the teams have enough talent to do that. The league is very unpredictable. The team that's going to win the league is one that can get a couple of sweeps and not get swept, but that will be difficult to do. I would be surprised if anybody ran away with the league title."
