Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford University Athletic Department has announced the promotions of Gary Migdol and Jamie Zaninovich to Senior Assistant Athletic Directors.
"Gary and Jamie have both provided outstanding administrative leadership for Stanford Athletics," said Stanford Athletic Director Ted Leland. "I am pleased that we have been able to reward them for their hard work and look forward to their continued contributions to our department."
Migdol is in his 19th year at Stanford and most recently served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations from 1996-2003. He manages a media relations staff that is responsible for publicizing Stanford's 34 intercollegiate sports, while overseeing all broadcasting and internet aspects of the department. In 1997, he authored "Stanford: Home of Champions," a 300-page book on the history of Stanford Athletics.
Migdol earned his Bachelor's degree in communications from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1983.
Zaninovich is in his seventh year and second stint with Stanford Athletics. He returned to Stanford in 2001 as an Assistant Athletic Director responsible for two distinct areas -- Men's Basketball and Strategic Planning. Zaninovich had previously spent four years (1996-99) at Stanford as the Marketing and Operations Director for Men's Basketball. In between his two stints on The Farm, he worked in marketing for Quokkasports/NBA Olympics.com and on his M.B.A. at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, which he received in 2001. Zaninovich also earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Stanford in 1993.
