Stanford heads into its final two regular season road games of the season at California Saturday and Sunday with a season-best 12-game road win streak and has won five straight overall ... Stanford (14-5 Pac-10) is 2.0 games ahead of Arizona State (10-5 Pac-10), as well as 2.5 games in front of Arizona (11-7 Pac-10) with five conference games remaining on its schedule ... Stanford has won 16 career Pac-10 championships (includes Southern Division and shared titles) and finished either first or second in the conference 20 times in the last 22 years ... Stanford moved up two spots to No. 7 in the latest Baseball America poll released May 5 ... Stanford is also ranked No. 3 by Collegiate Baseball, No. 5 by the NCBWA and No. 7 by Sports Weekly/ESPN ... Stanford is hitting .317 (#3 Pac-10) as a team, which would rank fourth on the school's all-time single-season list ... STANFORD BASEBALL QUICK INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Carlos Quentin leads the team and ranks second in the Pac-10 with a .410 batting average, .020 percentage points behind Stanford's single-season record of .430 set by Tom Williams in 1972 ... Quentin, who was named one of five finalists for the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award on May 6, is also attempting to become the first Stanford player to hit .400 or better since David McCarty hit .420 in 1991 ... Quentin has hit safely in 33 of his last 35 games (.447, 63-141) and had a career-high 26-game hit streak that lasted two months (February 22 - April 22) ... Quentin also paces the team in hits (75), doubles (22), walks (31), hit-by-pitches (10) and on-base percentage (.513) ... Ryan Garko, a Johnny Bench Award candidate, is the team's leader in homers (14), RBI (67), total bases (130), slugging percentage (.707), multiple-RBI games (21), multiple-hit games (22) and extra-base hits (30) ... Garko earned NCBWA National Co-Hitter, Pac-10 Player and College Baseball Insider West Regional Player of the Week honors each for the first time in his career earlier this week after going 10-for-13 (.769) with three homers, 12 RBI and a stolen base in the USC series and was 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI at California Friday ... STANFORD-CALIFORNIA SERIES HISTORY
Stanford holds an all-time lead in the series over California, 221-207, and has won nine of the last 10 games between the teams. After yesterday's 9-8 victory, Stanford has won all four games between the teams this season, also sweeping a non-conference series at Sunken Diamond earlier this season (March 7-9; 11-2, 9-4, 11-2). Last year, Stanford won five of six games between the clubs March 8-10 at California; W, 15-4; L, 1-2; W, 4-2; May 3-5 at Stanford; W, 8-4; W, 13-6; W, 8-5). California last won a series over the Cardinal with two-of-three wins in Berkeley from April 27-29, 2001 (W, 7-4; W, 7-0; L, 5-9).

Stanford 3, at San Jose State 0 (May 6, 2003)
Stanford extended its season-long road win streak to 11 games with a 3-0 victory at San Jose State in a non-conference game at Municipal Stadium. Stanford starter Tim Cunningham (2-2), the first of seven Cardinal pitchers that combined for Stanford's third shutout of the year and held the Spartans to four hits, earned the victory with 3.0 scoreless innings of one-hit work. Ryan McCally came on with two outs in the bottom of the ninth and struck out the only batter he faced to end the game, earning his second save of the season and 13th of his career.
Stanford's Danny Putnam (2-4) was the only player for either team with more than one hit. Mark Jecmen (0.1 IP, 1 BB, 1 HP), Kodiak Quick (1.2 IP, 2 SO), Billy Paganetti (1.0 IP, 1 BB), Drew Ehrlich (1.0 IP, 1 H), Jonny Dyer (1.2 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 SO) and McCally (0.1 IP, 1 SO) combined with Cunningham for the shutout.
San Jose State starter Jose Amaya (3-4), the first of five Spartan pitchers, suffered the loss by giving up one run and two hits over the first 2.0 innings.
Stanford 9, at California 8 (May 9, 2003)
Ryan Garko's two-out RBI single in the top of the ninth inning scored Jonny Ash with the game-winning run to lift Stanford to a 9-8 victory over California, extending its season-long road win streak to 12 games. Garko (2-5, HR, 3 RBI) also hit his team-leading 14th homer of the season in a six-run Stanford first and the Cardinal led 7-1 before California rolled off seven unanswered runs to take an 8-7 lead after six innings. Stanford tied the game on a two-out RBI triple by Brian Hall in the eighth before Garko's ninth inning game-winner.
Kodiak Quick (2-0) earned the victory, holding California scoreless on two hits with three strikeouts in 3.2 innings of relief. Quick came on after the Golden Bears had taken their 8-7 lead on a two-run homer by Justin Nelson with no outs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Matt Manship relieved Quick after a two-out single by Conor Jackson (3-5, HR, 3 RBI) off Quick in the bottom of the ninth and forced Chris Grossman (3-4, 2B) into a game-ending fielders choice to record his team-leading sixth save of the season.
Jed Lowrie (3-4) had three hits for the Cardinal, while Jonny Ash (2-3, 2B, 3B, RBI) and Sam Fuld (2-4) picked up two each. Chris Carter hit his first homer of the season and drove in a pair of runs with a two-run shot in the top of the first inning.
Matt Brown (3-7) suffered the loss for the Golden Bears, allowing the game-winning run and three hits over the final 1.1 innings. Adam Gold had an impressive relief outing for California, giving up only an unearned run and three hits in 6.2 innings after relieving starter Jesse Ingram (0.1 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 1 BB) with one out in the top of the first inning.
