Stanford Athletic Board Awards Announced

The Stanford Athletic Board honored the university's top student-athletes at its annual awards luncheon on Thursday afternoon at Burnham Pavilion.

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford Athletic Board honored the university's top student-athletes at its annual awards luncheon on Thursday afternoon at Burnham Pavilion.

The event was highlighted by both Dan Gill (men's gymnastics) and Tara Kirk (women's swimming) receiving the board's highest honor - the Al Masters Award - for attaining the highest standards of athletic performance, leadership and academic achievement.

Below is a complete listing of the 2003-04 Stanford Athletic Board recipients:

The Al Masters Award-Presented to the Stanford athlete attaining the highest standards of athletic performance, leadership, and academic achievement (Stanford's highest athletic award).
Dan Gill (Men's Gymnastics) & Tara Kirk (Women's Swimming)

The Biff Hoffman Award-Presented to the most outstanding male senior.
Peter Marshall (Swimming) & Grant Robison (Cross Country/Track & Field)

The Stanford Athletic Board Award-Presented to the most outstanding female senior.

The Jake Gimbel Award-Presented to the male senior for Excellence of Attitude in Athletic Endeavor.

Shirley Schoof Club Sports Athlete of the Year Award-Presented to the student-athlete on a club team who demonstrates outstanding leadership, exemplifies fair play/sportsmanship, achieves excellence within the sport and is committed to community service.
