Stanford, Calif. - Friday's scheduled opener of a three-game Pac-10 series between No. 10 Stanford (18-9, 3-0 Pac-10) and No. 16 Oregon State (24-4, 3-0 Pac-10) at Sunken Diamond has been postponed due to wet weather conditions. The highly anticipated series between the only two Pac-10 teams without a blemish on their conference records is now scheduled to start with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 9 (1:00 pm, PT). The series will conclude with Sunday's regularly scheduled contest, also beginning at 1:00 pm, PT.
Friday's postponement was the sixth of a soggy 2005 campaign for the Cardinal. Stanford's 2005 scheduled season-opener versus Fresno State on January 28, as well as games against Kansas (February 11), California (February 25), Pacific (March 19) and San Jose State (March 22) were also postponed due to rain or wet weather conditions. All of the contests other than the San Jose State game have been made up. A new date for the San Jose State tilt has not been announced.
Saturday's doubleheader will mark the fourth unscheduled twinbill of the season for the Cardinal. Stanford swept Fresno State (January 29) and Kansas (February 12), before splitting two games with California (March 6) to have an amazing run of six consecutive doubleheader sweeps broken.
