Jed Lowrie Earns First Team Sports Weekly All-American Honors

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford junior second baseman Jed Lowrie was named a Sports Weekly First Team All-American on Wednesday. Lowrie, who was selected a First Team All-American by three organizations including Sports Weekly last year, becomes the first Stanford player since Jeremy Guthrie (2001-02) to earn First Team All-American honors in back-to-back seasons.

Lowrie leads Stanford in homers (12, #4T Pac-10), RBI (61, #3 Pac-10, #29T NCAA), slugging percentage (.595, #7 Pac-10), total bases (116), sacrifice flies (10, #1 Pac-10), walks (36, #4T Pac-10) and multiple-RBI games (18) in the team's first 52 contests. He is also second on the club in batting average (.323).

Stanford (32-21, 11-10 Pac-10) plays its final regular season series of 2005 at USC (35-18, 13-8 Pac-10) this Friday-Sunday, May 27-29 (7 pm, 2 pm, 1 pm, PT).
