No. 7 Miami 4, Fresno State 2

May 18, 2006

Notes:
No. 7 seed Miami is making its second appearance in the Round of 16 in the last three years ... Miami advances to the quarter finals for the first time since 2004 ... Audra Cohen, ranked No. 2 in the nation, won today 6-0, 6-1 ... She reached the NCAA singles final last year while a freshman at Northwestern ... Fresno State is the lowest ranked team (No. 23) in the ITA rankings to reach the Round of 16 ... The Bulldogs upset Cal in the second round to advance ... Fresno State had won their previous 12 matches before today's loss.

On Having One Senior On The Team: Even though we have only one senior, we have several kids who have been in the tournament before. We are definitely playing with three kids in our lineup who haven't played in the Sweet Sixteens before. I think they're doing a pretty good job handling the pressure. The older kids are doing a good job of guiding the kids through it.

On The Play Of Sophomore All-American Audrey Cohen: Audrey is playing some great tennis right now. Her one loss on the season was to Kristi Miller (Georgia Tech). Quite honestly, we both think it was probably the best thing to have happened to her. Coming into the tournament undefeated is some pretty big shoes to fill. Ever since that loss, she seems to have refocused and has really been on a roll. We're hoping she continues it throughout the remainder of the team tournament and then on to the singles tournament.

On Playing Notre Dame In The Elite Eight: We use to see Notre Dame a lot when we were in the Big East. We haven't seen them in a couple of years. They're having an incredible season. Their doubles is very strong and they're very deep. I'm hoping that it will be a competitive match.
