Stanford, Calif. - More than 25 Stanford collegiate athletes and coaches will join Right To Play President and CEO Olympian Johann Koss and fellow Olympians Jenny Thompson, Devon Harris, Derek Parra, Timothy Goebel and others for a sports day with elementary students from the community in neighboring East Palo Alto.
The day of sports will take place Saturday, May 20 from 9 a.m. till noon on the Ford Plaza, located between the Ford Center and the New Arrillaga Family Recreation Center.
The purpose is to show how sports and play can be positive influences in a child's development. Several games will be played including tennis, wrestling, football, track, basketball, soccer and many more.
Stanford University's Cardinal Council is a student-athlete driven board which serves as the liaison between the student-athletes and the Stanford Athletic Department, the university, the surrounding community, the Pac-10 and the NCAA.
Right To Play is an international athlete-driven humanitarian organization that uses sports and play as a tool for development of children and youth in the most disadvantaged areas of the world. The organization recently opened its U.S. office in New York City.
