No. 2 seed Andre Begemann & Scott Doerner, Pepperdine
Doerner on today's match:
"Those guys we played are a very good team and it's hard to get a break out here. We knew we always had a chance, even after we lost the first set. We just kept playing and playing and eventually the break came in the second set. We knew once the break came we would get momentum from that."
Begemann on refocusing after the team championship:
"We've just taken a positive energy from our team championship and used it here. Scott and I have done great this year and I think we have a chance to win it. For the next three days, we'll put everything we have in it to try and win it all."
No. 1 seed Benjamin Kohlloeffel
On defeating Cal's Conor Niland today after losing to him twice in the regular season:
"He definitely played worse than before. I didn't play that much different, maybe I missed a little less than I used to. But I think he wasn't at his best game today. He played really well the times I lost to him before, maybe a little bit the wind. It's tough to play in those conditions, you can't go for your shots, you can't go for the line. It's a little more putting the ball in the court and hoping something happens.
On being one of the remaining seeds left in the draw:
"Obviously, you follow the results, but I don't think it's affected me that the seeded players lost. Sometimes it obvious, the Georgia guy [No. 2 John Isner] lost a tough team final, it's so tough to motivate after a loss like. It's tough for guys who go far in the tournament to focus on the singles tournament. The timing of the singles is a little unfortunate for teams who advance in the team event."
5-8 seed Marco Born and Andreas Siljestrom, Middle Tennessee State
Born on preparing for tomorrow's match:
"Just get some rest. Some rest for my shoulder and get a good night's sleep and eat well."
Siljestrom on today's win:
"It was a very tough match today. They came out strong and broke us early in the first set. We got down 1 set to love and just like yesterday, we knew we had a good chance if we kept our momentum up and kept playing with energy. We started playing a lot better and we won the two remaining sets. We're feeling good now."
Unseeded Erling Tveit, Mississippi
On today's match:
"I was able to hold my serve and he got tight when he was serving out the set at 5-4. I was lucky to get the first set. I got a break in the second set and was able to hold my serve and serve it out. The top 23-30 guys are pretty equal. I don't know if the rankings are totally correct."
Unseeded KC Corkery, Stanford
On playing at Stanford:
"The crowd's been great. It feels like I've got new legs every time I go out on the court. There's a lot of matches to play in a row. I've felt great. Hopefully, it's conditioning as well. But I think the crowd's got to help me. They seem to really invigorate me every time there's a big point or I've hit a big shot. They're right behind me. It's a great feeling. It's a dream come true to be able to play the NCAA's here my senior year."
On playing in semifinals:
"I haven't looked at my draw once this tournament. Someone told who I'm playing in the first round, second round, and third round. I didn't know who I was playing after my match yesterday. I have an idea now that it's getting closer to the end. I just wanted to take it one match at a time. One of the things I wanted to accomplish was to be a four-time All-American. I had to reach the Round of 16 to ensure that, so my first step was to get through two matches. That was my first goal. Since then, I've taken it one match at a time."
On today's match:
"I really didn't know much about the guy (Clement Reix) I played today. I just wanted to play my game and see where it took me. It's been good so far, so I'm going to keep with it. I think I was aggressive right off the bat. I was coming in a lot on his second serve, trying to get to the net. I feel like I got in trouble when he was able to push me back further behind the baseline. I just wanted to stay close to the baseline and attack as much as possible. I thought I returned well today and put a lot of pressure on his second serve."
On his potential to reach semifinals:
"I've felt like I've had potential since I've gotten here at Stanford. I've had a great career, but I always thought I could do this every year. It's nice to finally go out and show it. I don't know how many people think I'm that good, but I've always felt that I could play with these guys."
9-16 seed Somdev Devvarman, Virginia
On today's match:
"I felt like I played really well. I was just trying to press really hard in the beginning. I thought if I made him work really hard in the beginning of the match, it might pay off in the end."
On tomorrow's match against Stanford's KC Corkery:
"KC's a really good player, he has a ton of good wins already. We've never played a college match before, but he's a good guy, a good player. We played one time before and it was really close, so I'm looking forward to a good one tomorrow."
No. 3 seed Kevin Anderson & Ryan Rowe, Illinois
Rowe on today's match:
"Today was a lot better than the past couple of days, we had a lot easier of a win. I think we came out from the go and kept it going. It was a really good match."Anderson on preparing for tomorrow: "It's just another match, another day. We won today, so it's an opportunity to play tomorrow, so we're excited. We're goinmg to relax today, have a good practice tomorrow morning and be ready to go tomorrow afternoon."
