Stanford women's water polo coach John Tanner earned his fourth MPSF Women's Water Polo Coach of the Year award Wednesday, as announced by executive director Al Beaird. The award was selected by the Federation's head coaches.

Tanner's tenure at Stanford now includes one national championship, four conference championships, 11 U.S National team members and six Olympians.

The award is Tanner's fourth in his ten year Stanford career as he previously won the award in 1998, 2002, and 2003. Tanner also won his national title in the 2002 campaign. Tanner now owns a 242-42 (.852) career record at Stanford after his 25-2 record this season, which included a 23-game winning streak.

After a second place finish at the MPSF Women's Water Polo Championship Tournament, Tanner now leads his team into the NCAA Championships where they own the number one overall seed. Their first game is against Wagner College on May 11th at 5 PM.
