Stanford, Calif., -- Stanford University is once again hosting the USA Rugby National Guard Collegiate Men's and Women's Championship Tournament. The two-day tournament will take place at the Steuber Rugby Stadium, May 2-3, 2008. Both Division 1 and Division 2 titles for both men and women will be contested over the 2-day event.
For the fourth year in a row, and eighth in the program's history, the Stanford Women's Rugby Team has qualified to compete in the National Championship Tournament. The Cardinal has three national titles (1999, 2005, 2006) for eight appearances since 1992. Fans will remember a heartbreaker finish at 2007's title game, where a narrow, 1-point margin left the Cardinal 2nd to Penn State.
