Good Luck Beijing Tournament Statistics
BEIJING, China - Three Stanford women's basketball standouts, Candice Wiggins, Clare Bodensteiner, and Jillian Harmon recently completed play at the Good Luck Beijing Tournament, with Wiggins and the USA Basketball squad taking the silver medal, while Bodensteiner and Harmon, representing New Zealand, took sixth.
Wiggins, who joined the USA Senior National Team less than a week following the NCAA National Championship Game, participated in all six games of the tournament for the American side, averaging 5.3 points over 21.2 minutes per game. Team USA (4-2) took the silver medal after falling 84-81 to host China in the gold-medal game.
Bodensteiner and Harmon, making their international debuts with the New Zealand Women's National Team, known as the Tall Ferns, each saw action in the tournament's six contests, with Bodensteiner starting every game and Harmon making three starts.
Harmon impressed in her first international tournament, finishing second among the Tall Ferns with 11.7 points 6.3 rebounds, and 24.7 minutes played per game. She was also second on the squad with a 47.7% mark (31-for-65) from the floor.
Bodensteiner, meanwhile, averaged 5.7 points a game and led the Tall Ferns with six three-pointers (in 12 attempts) during the tournament.
The three did face off at the tournament, as Team USA took on New Zealand on April 23. Bodensteiner and Harmon started the contest for the Tall Ferns, while Wiggins came off the bench for 28 minutes of action. Wiggins scored seven points and grabbed five rebounds as the U.S. captured the 78-60 victory, while Bodensteiner and Harmon each scored four points, with Harmon grabbing six rebounds, for New Zealand.
