Associated Press All-America Selections 
STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford center Jayne Appel led five Pac-10 players receiving All-America honors from the Associated Press by being named to the second team on Tuesday. The teams were voted on by a 45-member national media panel that votes in the weekly Top 25 poll.
Appel is leading the Cardinal with 15.9 points and 9.2 rebounds a game while shooting 60.6 percent from the field, second-best on the team, this season.
The junior from Pleasant Hill, Calif. was an instrumental force in Stanford reaching the eighth Final Four in program with victories over Ohio State and Iowa State at the Berkeley Regional this past weekend. Over the two games, Appel averaged 35.5 points and 13.5 rebounds a game while shooting 62.5 percent (30-for-48) from the field. She was named Berkeley Regional MVP after setting a new single-game school record with 46 points in Monday's victory over the Cyclones.
Appel's scoring, rebounding and shooting figures all rank second in the Pac-10, while her shooting percentage is also in the national top five.
Tuesday's honor marks the second All-America selection for Appel this season, as she has already been named to espn.com's All-America Second Team.
She also was named Pac-10 Player of the Year and to the All-Pac-10 First Team.
Stanford will open play at the Final Four Sunday, April 5, at 4 p.m. PT against the winner of tonight's Arizona State-Connecticut regional final in Trenton, N.J.
