STANFORD, Calif. - Freshman forward Bonnie Samuelson was named to Great Britain's 20-player preliminary roster, The Standard Life Great Britain Senior Women's Basketball Team announced.

As host, Great Britain has automatically qualified a team in this year's Olympic women's basketball competition. The tournament will take place from July 28-Aug. 12 at the newly built Basketball Arena and at The O2, or, as it will be called during the Games, the North Greenwich Arena.

Samuelson is eligible for the British team due to her mother being born in Great Britain and formerly playing for the All-England Netball Team.

Samuelson joins 19 other Olympic hopefuls for the team's first camp beginning May 5. She is one of five current U.S. collegiate players on the roster, being joined by Dominique Allen and Georgia Jones of Oral Roberts, Harvard's Temi Fagbenle and Florida's Azania Stewart.

The roster also has a Pac-12 flavor to it, as along with Samuelson, Natalie Stafford (Oregon, 1996-98) and Kim Butler (Oregon State, 2004-06) are national team veterans.

The 12-player final Olympic roster will be announced on June 22.

In her rookie season on The Farm, Samuelson led the Cardinal with 44 3-pointers and was among the Pac-12 leaders with a 37.3 3-point field-goal percentage. She averaged 4.6 points per game while seeding action in 35 contests, averaging 11.0 minutes a game.
