Junior wide receiver Ty Montgomery of the Stanford football team has been named the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 7.
Montgomery proved to be the difference maker in last Saturday’s 31-28 win over Washington for the fifth-ranked Cardinal. The junior amassed 290 all-purpose yards including a school-record 204 kickoff return yards.
Montgomery’s evening began with a game-opening 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, the first by a Cardinal player since 2009. Twenty-six of Montgomery’s 35 rushing yards came on a first-quarter Stanford drive, giving him 125 all-purpose yards on his first two offensive touches.
The wide receiver added a 39-yard receiving touchdown before halftime and a 68-yard kickoff return in the third quarter.
