Cuffe Wins Muscle-Milk Honors

STANFORD, Calif. – Aisling Cuffe has been named Stanford’s Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 28-Nov. 4 after capturing the Pac-12 women’s individual cross-country title on Saturday in Louisville, Colo.

The honor is the first of Cuffe’s career and first for women’s cross country since Kathy Kroeger on Sept. 30, 2012.

Cuffe ran the 6-kilometer (3.73 miles) course in 21:04 to win by 11 seconds and give Stanford its second consecutive women’s title in that event, following Kathy Kroeger’s feat last season.

Cuffe, a junior from Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y., has been impressive all season, but especially in her past two meets. She was second at the Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind., two weeks ago against some of the strongest competition in the country.

Cuffe and Stanford next compete at the NCAA West Regionals on Nov. 15 for the right to advance to the NCAA championships.

Also Nominated: Alex Bowen (men's water polo), Jane Campbell (women’s soccer), Kyle Gilbert (women’s volleyball), Shannon Herold (field hockey), Lily Katz (sailing), Katie Lopez (rowing), Kyle Meyer (wrestling), Jordan Morris (men's soccer), David Nolan (men’s swimming), Jim Rosa (men’s cross country), Jessica Tonn (men's cross country), Carly Wopat (women's volleyball).
