SMU Defeats Stanford to Win Clemson Invitational

CLEMSON, SC - Mary Ann Means scored the game's only goal inleading unranked Southern Methodist to a 1-0 win over 16th-rankedStanford for the Championship of the Clemson Women's SoccerInvitational Tournament.

Though Stanford drove 12 shots at SMU, none found their target. Thegame was a scoreless draw after regulation time. The first overtimeperiod settled nothing. But in the second overtime period, Mary AnnMeans found the back of the net with a 28-yard drive that went over thehead of Stanford goal keeper Erin Bryla.

With the loss Stanford falls to 3-2 on the season, while SMU improvesto 5-1.
