Stanford Defeats Colorado College

STANFORD, Calif. -- The Stanford women's soccer team defeated Colorado College, 6-0, on Sunday before a crowd of 181 at Harry Maloney Field on the campus of Stanford University. Stanford improves to 4-6-0 while Colorado College falls to 7-4-2.

Stanford's Emily Burt scored at 33:29 off a pass from Tracye Lawyer to give the Cardinal a 1-0 lead going into the break. Cardinal freshman Karin Brett led the offensive attack, scoring two of Stanford's five second half goals. Freshman Katherine Horney added a goal and an assist while Lawyer and freshman Celina De Leon each recorded a goal in the second half.

Stanford outshot Colorado College, 20-2 in the match. Freshman goalkeeper Carly Smolak recorded the shutout while notching one save. Robyn Bilski had eight saves for Colorado College.

Stanford will open Pac-10 play on Oct. 10 when USC comes to town. The two squads will face off at 4 pm at Harry Maloney Field. On Oct. 12, the Cardinal hosts nationally ranked UCLA at 1 pm.
