Senior Jess Zutz (Wilmington, DE) of the field hockey team has been selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 29-Nov. 4.
Zutz played an important role in helping Stanford capture its first NorPac Tournament championship since 2000, as she scored four goals and dished out one assist in three tournament victories for the Cardinal, which posted its first winning season since 2001. Throw in a one-goal, one-assist performance against Radford earlier in the week and Zutz finished the stretch with five goals and two assists in four games. In addition to starting all four contests, she was named to the NorPac All-Tournament team.
Zutz currently leads the Cardinal with 13 goals (tying a career-high) and 32 points while ranking second on the squad in shots (62).
This is the first honor Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season for Zutz and the first for a field hockey player this year.
