Former Stanford midfielder Eleanor Morgan enters her second season as a volunteer assistant coach after completing a successful four-year playing career with the Cardinal (2001-04).
Morgan closed out her career at Stanford with 31 points (seven goals, 17 assists) while playing in 74 games and 67 starts, including the final 60 games of her career by starting every game in each of her final three seasons. She capped her career by earning First Team All-NorPac honors in her senior year and being selected for the NFHCA Division I North/South All-Star Game, where she scored the game-winning goal for the North squad in a 2-1 victory.
"Eleanor was a leader during her Stanford career and someone the players on the team really respected," said Stanford head coach Lesley Irvine. "She had a phenomenal senior season and the team grew confidence from it. We're very fortunate to still have Eleanor associated with the program and to help the team strive toward their goals"
Morgan was also very successful in the classroom at Stanford as she picked up NFHCA All-Academic honors each of her four seasons before graduating in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and an emphasis on Product Design. She also won the Sheryl Johnson Academic Award two times in her career. This is given to the athlete with the most successful academic record in the Norpac Conference each year.
Morgan comes from a rich field hockey tradition. Her sister, Elise, was an All-American field hockey player and Conference MVP while at Stanford, finishing her collegiate career in 1995.
